Fisherman's Bastion is one of the most romantic places in Budapest. White stone towers overlooking the Danube River lend fairytale vibes to this popular viewing terrace, which gives visitors views from Margaret Island to Gellért Hill, plus some of the best views of the Parliament building in the city. I recommend waking up early if you plan to propose at Fisherman's Bastion. The architecture looks gorgeous bathed in the early morning light, plus you'll have the place all to yourselves! Here are some of my favorite spots around Fisherman's Bastion for popping the question.
Under the arch
There are two arches at Fisherman's Bastion, one facing north and one facing south. For early morning proposals, I recommend the arch which faces south, seen in these photos. If there's a pretty sunrise the morning of your proposal, you and your soon-to-be fiancé/e will be beautifully backlit.
In front of the south tower
If you'd like one of those fairytale towers to be the main backdrop for your proposal and you're game for getting up early, proposing in front of the south tower is your best bet. The sun will be behind you for beautiful backlighting and you can take in gorgeous views of the city after you've heard that magical three-letter word, "Yes!"
In front of the main viewing terrace
The architectural details on the main viewing terrace area at Fisherman's Bastion are incredible and would make an amazing backdrop for a proposal. Plus, the light and shadows created by the sun coming through all those beautiful shapes is so pretty.
looking out over parliament
This is just next to the previous spot (in front of the main viewing terrace) and is a great choice for anyone who considers the Parliament building a must-have in their proposal photos.
